Our Team

Our staff includes executives, managers, Strategic Recruiting™ consultants and support staff. All sourcing specialists are trained in Alan Davis’ unique methods, utilizing a structured professional process.

We work as a team and communicate constantly in order to stay on top of an extraordinary amount of data. Most importantly, all members of our staff are client focused and passionate about service.

Alan Davis

Alan is Chairman and co-founder of Alan Davis & Associates Inc.

Alan is co-owner of Alan Davis & Associates Inc. which he opened in February 1983. He was President of the company until December 2008 when he was appointed Chairman. In this role he oversees the long-term business strategy and mentors his Management Team.

Highlights of Alan’s 38 year career include:

  • Managing the Canadian Astronaut Recruitment Program (Chris Hadfield, Dave Williams and Julie Payette). In his role as Campaign Manager, Alan designed a process ensuring that the program was completed on time (over 5,300 application were received and selection commenced within a month) and that every applicant was treated fairly and equitably. The campaign was filmed by the CBC for their documentary “Space for Four”.
  • Conducting international recruitment campaigns for Aerospace clients and bringing to Canada hundreds of technical and scientific specialists required by his clients to fill their gaps in critical skill sets.
  • Developing highly innovative recruiting products, including Strategic Recruiting™, Succession Resource Management™ and the Recruiting SWAT Team™. Alan also created the highly acclaimed “Picking Winners Course”, a seminar on effective hiring practices tailored for busy managers.

Alan has been a speaker at many conferences across Canada on various recruitment and selection issues and is a frequently published author on these topics.

Alan began his career after graduation with an international construction company in the UK where he started as a Site Project Manager for heritage buildings in London, England. When he eventually became the company’s Marketing Manager, he combined his construction and marketing expertise to negotiate and win multi-million dollar development projects.

After his arrival in Montréal in the late ‘70s, he made a career change, working for 5 years in the recruitment field where he specialized in the recruitment of engineers for the High-Tech, IT and Aerospace industries and this culminated in him starting his own Human Resource consulting company, transferring the lessons learnt in recruiting hard-to-find technical specialists across the entire business landscape.

Alan holds an HmD in Construction Management from Southhampton Solent University as well as a diploma in Marketing (DipM) from the London School of Business.

Diane Bates

Diane is President and co-founder of Alan Davis & Associates Inc.

Diane is President of Alan Davis & Associates Inc (ADA). Prior to joining ADA, Diane worked for nearly twenty years in IT, Corporate Planning, Finance & Taxation for multi-nationals in Banking, Oil & Gas, Shipping and Telecommunications.  She has travelled extensively throughout her career from being one of the few women on an oil rig in the North Sea to visiting Canadian banks in Caribbean tax havens.

In 1990, Diane left the Corporate world to join Alan Davis & Associates.  This decision was made for a better work-life balance coinciding with the birth of her third child.  Initially, Diane was responsible for Finance, HR, IT and Administration. Over the next eighteen years, Diane took on more responsibility and, in 2008, Diane became President on the retirement of Alan Davis. 

As an Executive Search consultant, Diane has worked with CEOs, senior executives & senior leadership teams in Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Power & Life Sciences.

Diane specializes in Leadership Development, Career Transition and Women in Leadership. Her unique background in Corporate Finance & Executive Search combined with her industry knowledge helps Diane be an successful Coach & Mentor.

Diane has leveraged ADA’s “Picking Winners” logo (representing ADA’s search practice & online interview training course) for her unique “Coaching Winners” program.

Diane’s success as a coach is a function of her career experiences, her broad understanding of life & the training she took to become an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation. According to Diane’s coaching peers, she is an active listener, relates well to others, creates a positive environment encouraging discussion & genuinely enjoys coaching.

Diane has a Higher National Diploma in Business Administration, as well as the Professional Administrator designation of the Association of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. In 2014, Diane was accepted as a Associate Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation.

Diane has raised four children while taking leadership roles in her business & local community.

She was an organizer of the “Distinguished Speakers Program” for the West Island Chamber of Commerce and a presenter for the West Island Industrial Commissioner. She is currently a Board Member of the John Abbott College Foundation, a position she has held since 2005.

Diane has also volunteered extensively within her local community, primarily in theatrical, educational and religious groups.

Sue Spencer

Sue is a Strategic Recruiting Consultant at Alan Davis & Associates Inc.

Sue joined Alan Davis Strategic Recruiting™ as a Recruiter in 1997 following a twenty year career in Customer Service and Marketing/Sales in the Banking and Transportation industries.

At Alan Davis Strategic Recruiting™, Sue is responsible for sourcing and recruiting prospective candidates. She has successfully worked on many complex mandates in the Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical and Power industries.

Sue’s experience in working with people worldwide allows her to converse easily with people at all levels. Her excellent communication skills and natural sincerity also enable her to gain the trust of all candidates and to build long lasting relationships with clients and candidates alike.

Sue holds the Association of Professional Recruiters of Canada designation (APRC).

In additional to her professional life, Sue has worked as a volunteer for many years on the Board of Directors of a non-profit community organization. She also volunteers extensively in her local schools.

Diana McDougall

Diana is a Strategic Recruiting Consultant at Alan Davis & Associates Inc.

Diana brings an abundance of industry knowledge and experience to the Alan Davis Strategic Recruiting™. Her strategic and quick thinking is a great asset for the team.

She has a background in pharmaceuticals. Starting at Merck Canada, she worked her way up to Director of Market Planning. She then moved up to Senior Marketing Director, in the United States and was responsible for the development and execution of major launches. Diana ended her career in pharmaceuticals as General Manager and Executive Director of Merck Canada Montreal.

During her professional life, Diana has received various awards such as: Recipient of Divisional Award from Merck US, has been recognized with a Special Achievement Award, and while at Merck, Best Customer Focused Award, Finalist for the Best Marketing program Award, Finalist for Best Physician Campaign and Finalist for Best Customer Focus Award.

Diana holds an MBA in Marketing and Market Planning from McGill University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts and English Literature from Concordia University.

Diana has also been a member of Board of Directors for a number of not-for-profit organizations.

Karen Fraser

Karen is a Strategic Recruiting Consultant at Alan Davis & Associates Inc.

She started her career in the Hotel and Hospitality industry, working in Alberta, Canada, where she gained exquisite customer service acumen. Returning to Ontario, she worked for the Algonquin Animal hospital, in which she worked as Assistant Manager. She has also worked in Immigration, where she managed individual cases from the United Kingdom. Her diverse background has given Karen exceptional customer service and relationship skills.

Karen has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Animal Science, from McGill University.

Mara Crosilla

Mara is a Strategic Recruiting Consultant at Alan Davis & Associates Inc.

Her background is in the pharmaceutical industry where she began her career as a quality control analyst for Wyeth Canada.  Mara worked her way up to the position of Manager of Operations at Wyeth and then to Manufacturing Site Head at Pfizer’s Montreal research facility where she was responsible for all facets of clinical drug manufacturing as well as the development and management of personnel. She has knowledge of supply chain operations, manufacturing and packaging of drug product, good manufacturing practices, FDA Regulations, quality audits and clinical trials. She joined Alan Davis & Associates Inc. in 2013 bringing her project and people management skills to the team. 

Mara holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Concordia University.
